International Students’ Well-Being and Sense of Belonging through the Lens of Positive Psychology


Chi-Jia Hsieh, Dr. Sunnie Watson

In Chi-Jia’s dissertation research, she explores how reflection practices and instructions rooted in positive psychology could enhance international students’ sense of belonging and well-being. She is responsible for conducting research design, data collection, and data analysis with guidance from her advisor, Dr. Watson. The research proposal is supported by the Taiwanese Government Scholarship of Study Abroad.

Instructional Designers’ Best Possible Self


Collaboration with Drs. Suzhen Duan, Ji Hyun Yu, Sunnie Watson, and Liu Ding

In this project, Chi-Jia worked along with Dr, Duan and conducted data analysis on a longitudinal data collection of novice instructional designers’ best possible self activity.

  • The research aims to evaluate the creative activities and participation in interactive picture books through eye-tracking devices
  • Conducted literature review on digital storytelling systems and related topics; managed project budget.
